Introduction
When a commercial-printing company decided to consolidate two locations into a single facility, they knew they needed a moving partner with full-service capabilities, wide-ranging expertise and experienced project managers to stay on time and on budget. They partnered with Armstrong for a more effortless, efficient relocation experience from start to finish.
Project Challenges
This client has office and warehousing locations around the globe, two of which were only hours apart from each other. The printer wanted to consolidate the two facilities by moving the personnel, storage, equipment, materials and products from one regional site to the other.
With extensive experience moving both offices and warehouses, Armstrong was the ideal partner for this undertaking. The project required end-to-end services, from packing desks and pallets to decommissioning the old office and warehouse location. Faced with ongoing supply-chain disruptions, Armstrong leveraged a nationwide network of owned agencies and vetted partners to ensure the client lost no time.
The Solution
Armstrong’s dedicated move coordinators began by meeting with the client to identify needs, build a detailed schedule and prepare for potential obstacles through a contingency-planning process. Then, Armstrong’s crews jumped into action, emptying the office space by helping to find buyers for unneeded assets and removing low-voltage cabling.
Armstrong disassembled all office cubicles and desks, uninstalled equipment such as televisions, removed projector screens and packed up workstations. Armstrong recycled furniture that the client could not resell, keeping detailed records to ensure as little as possible ended up in a landfill. Armstrong even patched holes and removed debris to ready the office space for the next tenant.
The accompanying warehouse required similar comprehensive packing, moving and decommissioning services. As a printing company with a large inventory of valuable equipment, the client relied on Armstrong to disconnect machines, prepare them for transit and reinstall them at the other location. Some equipment needed specialty lifts, which Armstrong handled efficiently and effectively.
Armstrong also used decades of experience in warehousing and logistics to pack and move hundreds of pallets from storage to the second location. Before leaving the warehouse, Armstrong returned the space to “broom-swept” condition by removing data lines and electrical conduit, performing minor repairs to baseboards and drywalls and removing every last nail, screw or paperclip from the floors.
Client Value & Results
Armstrong stayed ahead of schedule during multiple phases, meeting client needs quickly without sacrificing quality. Throughout the moving process, the client was confident that Armstrong was taking care of every last detail, leaving them free to focus on their business.
Because of Armstrong’s packing, liquidation and recycling services, the client knew they had accounted for every last asset and minimized the environmental impact. After the meticulous decommissioning, the client avoided steep fines. And by working around the client’s schedule, Armstrong reduced downtime and disruptions to the business.
