Our Commitment to Sustainability

As an industry-leading company that moves hundreds of families, facilities and companies across the country and the world, Armstrong Relocation – Raleigh understands that we have a responsibility to handle every move with a conscious approach to our environmental impact. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and that of our clients and partners. Protecting our natural resources isn’t just an extension of our stewardship but a purposeful mission for us.

Here’s how your local Raleigh moving company focuses on conserving natural resources and commits to running a sustainable company geared toward protecting our planet.

Recycling  Moving Materials

With more than 30 million Americans moving every year, moveBuddha.com estimates that more than 900 million cardboard boxes are used — most of these will end up in landfills. As a result, Armstrong Relocation – Raleigh understands that we must do everything we can to reduce this number and reuse the boxes. The cardboard and paper industry are among the top five consumers of energy in the world. According to technology.org, paper and pulp alone are responsible for 4% of the world’s energy use. By using recyclable and previously recycled boxes, as well as training our Armstrong Relocation – Raleigh teams to ensure these materials are properly recycled after use, we make a positive impact on the environment.

We also implement reusable plastic crates instead of cardboard boxes in our commercial office and facility relocations. Our teams use plastic tubs and carts that can be reused indefinitely, in lieu of wooden tubs and carts creating a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to waste.

Repurposing “Junk”

The old clutter and junk that you clean out when moving has a huge environmental impact. Due to the overflow of waste each year, much of your discarded junk will end up in one of 86 incinerators across the United States, according to junkluggers.com. Incinerator emissions can include heavy metals, mercury, lead and other harmful chemicals. These chemicals are then released into the air and raise the level of highly toxic pollutants. By donating or repurposing, you can keep tons of trash out of landfills every year. Rather than worrying about managing unwanted items, consider having a full-service team properly dispose of old books, furniture, and clutter — we’ll take care of it for you!

On the commercial side, your dedicated Raleigh team can facilitate the elimination of corporate assets by selling, donating or disposing of the items at a profit or no cost. Our liquidation services include: asset auctions; brokerage, charitable contribution, donation for tax benefits, recycling and web-based retail sales.

Donating Unwanted Food

If you’ve ever had a big move you know how pantry stockpiles can seem cumbersome — those amassed pasta boxes and canned goods are often tossed out. While these edible items may not make a difference to your family, there are many families across the country who could benefit from you donating them!

The Armstrong enterprise, including your local Raleigh agency, has a history of partnering with Move for Hunger, an organization that accepts the food items you need to get off of your hands when moving, and places them in the hands of families in need. Since 2009, Move for Hunger has delivered more than 16.6 million pounds of food to food banks across the country. Additionally, since 2018, Armstrong’s 30 participating branches have rescued nearly 4,500 lbs. of food and have provided 3,700 meals to people who are facing hunger. Armstrong Relocation – Raleigh knows the impact these meals can have on those in need and subsequently holds annual food drives to collect food, in addition to the food it collects from relocating customers.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

The emissions that come from moving trucks during your relocation process are one of the most significant elements to consider for the environment. The fuel that moving trucks will burn in local and interstate relocations releases toxins into the air. Technology.org reports that for each gallon of fuel burned in transit, an estimated 22 pounds of carbon dioxide is released into the air. These emissions are harmful to the environment and contribute to global warming.

It is extremely important to Armstrong Relocation – Raleigh that we approach every job as eco-friendly as possible. To keep our carbon footprint small we dispatch crews, equipment and drivers with the shortest and most efficient routes to better use fewer resources. In fact, this methodology is used across the entire Armstrong enterprise.
